How to prepare a graphic design?

We can place any printed design on the pins, but it must meet specific criteria:

  • Projects should be in the following formats:
    • PDF, EPS, AI – vector graphics
    • JPG, TIFF, PNG with a minimum resolution of 200dpi – raster graphics, photos.
  • Graphics must be saved in CMYK color space.
  • The graphics should match the shape of the button badge.
  • The size/diameter of the graphic should match the button size and include enough space for the background bleed around the edge of the button. Part of the print will fold underneath the badge.
  • Any text around the edges, if present, should be kept away from the button’s edge – see the illustration below.
  • We do not recommend placing text on the edge of the button, as small shifts of 1-2 mm from the center cannot be ruled out during production.
  • The essential graphical elements, such as the main motif, should be slightly away from the edge by about 1-2mm, as they may wrap around the button’s edge.

Below you will find templates in PDF format for download. They will be helpful in preparing your projects.

Detailed information on how to make button badges

Below you will find our guide on how to make button badges – independently, having all the necessary products for this task. We instruct step by step how to make metal button badgess using the button machine and components for badges that you can purchase from us.

Button badge is nothing more than a paper printout cut around, placed on metal components and covered with acrylic foil. All badge components along with the foil are available for sale. All you need to do is insert all the components along with the cut-out print into the button machine and press it with a lever (how to make metal buttons on our machine can be seen in the instructional video on the button badges machine page).

So if you are asking yourself: how to make a button badge – we inform you that to produce button badges on your own, you need:

  • Button machine
  • Badges components (metal front, back with a pin or other and transparent foil)
  • Paper printout
  • Rotary paper cutter

How to make button badges on your own button machine?

You buy the machine and components from us, but you have to prepare the graphic designs and their printouts yourself. How? Read on! 🙂

How to print the design project?

First of all, in order for the printed project to be cut to the given button diameter, a black outline is needed – see the above drawing, the outer circle. The cutting diameters and hence the diameters of the black outline for each button size are provided in the table above.

As for the printing technology, it can be any, both digital (inkjet or laser) and offset. It should be remembered that in the case of inkjet printing, the colors on the button may fade over time.

An important element is the paper on which we print. We recommend using coated or satin paper with a weight of 80-100 grams. Thicker paper can damage the button during production.

How to prepare a graphic design for wooden badges?

File requirements for wooden badges production:

    • vector graphics
    • file format: .pdf
    • color scheme: RGB in grayscale and red outline

Due to laser limitations, elements and spaces between them cannot be smaller than 1mm.

Guidelines along with examples to assist in preparing designs can be downloaded here – wooden badge guidelines.
